Our Brilliant Boutique Aviation Winery!
Villa Melnik Winery Ltd. – The wines to remember
Villa Melnik Winery Ltd. is a family-owned company that continues a tradition of vine-growing and wine-producing with over two centuries of documented history. Our vineyards are situated in two locations in the most famous winemaking region in Bulgaria, the town of Melnik, which is known worldwide and is present in all world encyclopedias of wine. One of the vineyards, of some 20 hectars (50 acres), is in the location MINDALO of the village of Vinogradi, about four to five kilometers south from Melnik, on the hills along the left bank of the Melnishka river. Located within a kilometer, the other vineyard has an area of 10 hectars (25 acres) and is situated
in the location Beli Breg of Harsovo village, which is well-known among wine lovers and whose name is registered as a controlled appellation of origin. In the spring of 2004, Villa Melnik planted the first high quality vines of the best domestic and foreign varieties: Broad Leaved Melnik Vine, Early Melnik Vine (Melnik 55), four of the best clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, also four clones of Merlot, Syrah, and one of the oldest Thracian varieties, Mavrud. The 3 hectars (7.4 acres) planted with Mavrud are currently the only industrial plantation of this sort in the area. Over the next three years, we added more red varieties to the vineyards: the relatively new Bulgarian variety Rouen, a second clone of Syrah, Pinot Noir and Sangiovese. We also planted three white varieties: the classic Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the increasingly popular variety Viognier, in order to be able […]

Strymon Winery

Strymon Winery

We are pleased to present to you the wine STRYMON of Levunovo vineyards – the wine that carries its message ‘felicite’ from ancient times.

Having been inspired by the old Bulgarian traditions, we decided to create our own brand of boutique wines.
For the production of these wines we obtain grapes from our own vineyards that stretch on an area of 45 ha in the Valley of Struma River in South-west Bulgaria. Legends of the mastery of Ancient Thracians, who inhabited those lands and impressed the ancient world by their wine-making skills, are still living here. Guided by our love of traditions, history and good wine, we decided to revive the good practices of ancient masters and impress the modern world in our turn…
We have chosen the name STRYMON, which is the name of the ancient god of Struma River that runs in proximity to the vineyards.
We have also chosen that region for its climatic features which are close to those of the Mediterranean region and permit growing quality grape varieties in conditions of unique terroir that has no analogue in the world.1 These blessed conditions permit growing varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sirah, Cabernet Franc, Nebbiolo, Petit Verdo, Sangioveze, and Shiroka Melnishka Loza which is traditional for that region. We use these varieties to produce first quality wine by a technology that conforms to traditions and modern achievements in wine-making. Optimizing the yields to 3500- 4500 kg/ha, alongside with managing the vine plant nutritional regimen and canopy management manipulations, provide us a possibility to ‘create the wine of the specific vineyard’, obtaining a raw material with precisely defined composition and quality. Monitoring the chemical composition of grapes during ripening enables us to define precisely […]

Orbelus Winery

Orbelus Winery

Fine Bulgarian Organic Wines
The ORBELUS project began in 2000 when the first 96 dka of land were acquired in the territory of Kapatovo, a village situated in the Struma Valley, at the foot of the mountain of Pirin. The mountain also gave to the brand its name– ORBELUS, as it was called by the Thracians who inhabited the region in the past.

Gradually until 2010 the company acquired more than 200 dka, devided in 20 separate plots in the territories of the villages of Kromidovo, Kapatovo, Marikostinovo and Harsovo, each of them with its specific terroir characteristics, thus contributing to the richness of ORBELUS wines. The grape varieties cultivated – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache Noir, Primitivo, Petit Verdot, Marselan, Mourvedre, Viognier, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris – are chosen with a view to the climate particularities and the soil composition. Special attention is given to the cultivation of the traditional for the region grape variety – Early Melnik. The company’s objective is to produce high quality red and white wines in a nature conscious manner, guaranteeing its products’ ecological purity.
Hence, all vines used in making the ORBELUS brand wines are certified in accordance with the Bulgarian and European legal requirements for the production of organic grapes. In 2010 the first ORBELUS wines were launched on the market. Currently they are vinified from the company’s own grapes and under the supervision of its specialists at Damianitza AD vineyard. The company’s project, nevertheless, is to have its own vineyard built within two years.
